Your return comes filled in

Your employer and your bank report what they paid you. The portal puts those figures into your return. Your job is to check them.

  • Salary comes from the Form 16 your employer filed
  • Interest and dividends come from your bank's reports in AIS
  • Tax already cut comes from Form 26AS
  • A wrong figure? Give feedback in AIS, then file your correct figure

If a refund fails, it is almost always the bank account.

Pre-validate your account on the portal, then ask for a refund reissue. A reissue takes 7 to 10 days.

    Got a notice?

Most are routine. Check that it is real, read what it asks, and reply by the date on it. You reply on the portal; there is no office to visit.
